Hi, my name is Marli. I’m originally from Brazil, but I’ve been living in Spain for more than 25 years.

I’d love to tell you a little bit about how Marli House began.

In 2007, I opened the doors of my home to a small group of students from the United States who had come to Spain to study for a semester. What started as a simple experience quickly became something much more meaningful.

I loved having them in my home, getting to know them, helping them adapt to life in a new country, and, above all, taking care of them. From that moment on, I knew I had found something special.

Since then, my life has been dedicated to welcoming and caring for students from all over the world, treating each one as if they were my own children.

At first, I looked after just one small group of students at a time. But as word spread, more and more students wanted to stay with me. Eventually, I needed to build a team to help me provide the same level of care, attention, and warmth to every student who comes to Marli House.

Over the years, I have worked hard to create something more than just a place to stay. I wanted to create a real home away from home — a place where students feel safe, comfortable, supported, and part of a family.

At Marli House, students can focus on what brought them to Madrid in the first place: studying, growing, making friends, and enjoying their experience abroad. My team and I take care of everything else.

What began in 2007 with a small group of American students has grown into a welcoming home for students from all over the world. I am incredibly grateful for every student who has been part of our story, and I look forward to welcoming many more in the years to come.

That is how Marli House was born: a place that combines the convenience of a student residence with the warmth and comfort of a real home.
